Kerrilynn McInnis Memorial Scholarship
PURPOSE OF THE KERRILYNN MCINNIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
To provide annually a scholarship of $500 towards post-secondary education for Ringette players, who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the sport of Ringette.
Recipients will receive a scholarship award certificate recognizing their achievements.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Scholarship funds must be applied to the academic year for which the scholarship was awarded. Charlottetown Ringette Association is unable to grant requests to defer scholarships from one academic year to the next.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Application for The Kerrilynn McInnis Memorial Scholarship Award may be made by:
• Ringette players registered with the Charlottetown Ringette Association,
Who will be enrolled full-time in a recognized post-secondary education institution for the next academic year.
Applicants must meet the admission standards of the educational institution specified, which must be a university, college or other educational institution located in Canada providing courses at a post-secondary school level.
Applicants must have actively participated in Charlottetown Ringette as a player for at least three consecutive years and must be registered in the current playing season.
Successful applicants will be those who have demonstrated sustained commitment to the sport of Ringette through playing, coaching, officiating and other volunteer activities.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications (plus supporting documents) must be forwarded to Dawn Gallant at dawn@charlottetownringette.com no later than March 31, 2020.
The subject line must read:
Kerrilynn McInnis Memorial Scholarship – your name.
NOTIFICATION
The name of successful applicant will be announced at the 2020 AGM in May.
Please be sure that the following items are included in your scholarship application package:
- The scholarship application form, fully completed. Form can be found here
- Two (2) current letters of reference, one of which must be from a Ringette individual.
- Essay outlining the importance of Ringette, and how it has helped your personal development (max. 500 words)
- Proof of registration as an active player for the current Ringette playing season.
- Confirmation of full-time enrollment at a post-secondary institution.
Please Note: Scholarship funds will not be released by Charlottetown Ringette Association until confirmation of the successful applicant’s full-time enrollment at an appropriate post-secondary educational institution for the academic year has been received. Funds will be distributed directly to the post-secondary institution in the successful applicant’s name.
COMMITTEE
The review Committee will consist of the Vice President, the Secretary and a third individual chosen by the President with knowledge and history with both Ringette and the McInnis Family.
