Welcome to another Ringette Season on PEI with the Charlottetown and Area Ringette Association.

Welcome to another Ringette Season on PEI with the Charlottetown and Area Ringette Association. Our player draft has been completed in the U10, U12, U14 & U16U19 divisions over the last 2 evenings by our coaches.

Practice times
Please review your team's schedule on the link from the Master Schedule or from your team page. The next 2 weeks are published and the league schedule for the season will be published by October 29 with games starting the weekend of November 1. Once the games schedule for the year is created, the practice schedule from November 1 until the Charlottetown Tournament will be published as well.

Team Names
Your team will need to submit your team name by Sunday, October 27 after practice. Get creative this week!

Jersey Deposit
You will be receiving your team jersey this coming week and the coach / manager will collecting your jersey deposit of $65 to hold until April. Please do so to your team’s coach/ manager in the form of a post dated check made out to Charlottetown Ringette dated April 1, 2014. No deposit, no jersey and no game play for your athlete.

Parents Meeting
In the coming week, the coach will meet with the parents to discuss the coaching philosophy for the team and administrative matters such as tournaments to be entered during the season, fund raising for tournaments and other issues of team concern. Parents are encouraged to ask questions and communicate their suggestions to the team manager.

Do we have to attend all the practices and games?
Ringette is a team sport and relies on all the players to participate.  Except for illness or other unusual circumstances, it is expected that players will attend all practices and games. Please update your team manager if you are not going to be present for a practice or a game. For games, the coach can bring a player from a lower division if they need, so it essential to communicate any times the players are away.

Gym Ringette (U10 & U12 to start)
Watch for your team's practice schedule for Gym Ringette sessions starting Oct 28 at the Park Royal Church at 11 Christie Drive in Parkdale behind Hillside Motors.

The gym will be available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and assigned to your team like an ice practice. Coaches will use for ringette skills building as well as team building activities and good old fashion fun! Players will need the following equipment for the Gym Ringette sessions:
  • indoor non-marking sneakers (same as school)
  • ringette / hockey gloves
  • ringette / rockey helment
  • water bottle / drink
Please park / enter the church to the left side of the main church doors where the Kids Connection / Parkdale Sherwood Headstart enter through 2 double metal doors.

Volunteers
Every year Charlottetown hosts a tournament in Jaunary and this year is our 10th - with 80 teams and over 130 games from January 9-12, 2014. This event is a major fund raiser for the Association and requires help from every member prior to and during the tournament. We would like to hear from parents who are interested in helping as volunteers throughout the season Please communicate your interests in this regard to the manager. Parents' cooperation is essential to a successful season. The coaching staff, managers and association executives are all volunteers that work each season to ensure our athletes contiue to develop their ringette skills and team sportmanship - on and off the ice.

During the season we'll ask every parent to volunteer time throughout the year to help the team and the Association. Your player will love the fact you are involved in their sport!

"I play ringette because I meet new friends every year. It is a very fast game and you can have tons of fun!"

Have a great season everyone! Visit us online at http://charlottetownringette.com for the latest news and updates.
