Ringette Canada Launches National Survey

2013-06-11

What's New? Survey says..... HAVE YOUR SAY!

Ringette Canada (RC) is currently undergoing a strategic planning process to map out what the priorities for ringette in Canada will be over the next four years. RC believes that great organizations spend the necessary time mapping out their future directions in order to better achieve desired outcomes. This requires careful planning, scanning the environment and adjusting as required, reviewing best practices, and customizing what you learn so it works for your athlete. The Board of RC recognizes the importance of planning and will be using the next six months to engage its members in a pan Canadian strategic planning effort to ensure the continued success of the organization at all levels.

As with previous RC strategic plans, the next one will be used to guide all of the organization’s future actions. In addition, it will be used as a common framework to help ensure consistent decision-making by staff and volunteers and it is hoped that provincial sport organizations will be interested in using the framework when developing their own plans.

Over the coming weeks, the RC community is invited to complete a national survey to help uncover RC’s current strengths, explore opportunities, identify areas of improvement, and map out desired results. In addition, we anticipate conducting internal and external stakeholder interviews that will provide more detailed and specific knowledge to be uncovered. Please take the necessary time to complete the following survey

What is Strategic Planning?
Strategic Planning is a systematic way for organizations to map out their future directions, taking into account internal and external factors. It can also be used to engage members in a collective discussion on what matters most with a view of building shared understanding and common goals. Research tells us that one way to increase trust among members is to involve them in any planning processes that they are then expected to implement. Effective strategic planning processes include an opportunity to:

  • Scan the environment
  • Engage members
  • Renew (or create) commitment to mission, values and vision
  • Create (or refine) a performance management strategy
  • Communicate throughout
  • Build commitment to implement the strategies that have been identified
