U8 & U10 Points Jamboree

The U8 & U10 Points Jamboree will take place at the Pownal Sports Centre on Saturday, April 6 starting at 9:00am.

Ringette PEI would like to invite you and your players to attend the annual Jamboree Day to cap off the 2012-13 ringette season.  It will be held at the Pownal Sports Centre on Saturday, April 6.  During the Jamboree, teams will play games and participate in off-ice events in which they will accumulate points.  The day will finish off with a short ceremony and t-shirts will be given to all players. 
 
The schedule for your team’s on and off ice activities as well as the outline for the day can be found here: Jamboree Schedule  In addition to these scheduled times, please ensure that either your coaching staff and/or your parents are available throughout the day to assist your players with getting from one activity to the next.  This will contribute to a fun filled, safe day for everyone.

Points will be allotted to each team for their on-ice play as well as off-ice team activities.  U8 teams will play 2 12 minute periods and U10 teams will play 2 15 minute periods.

U8 U10
1 point for each goal
2 points for a shutout
5 points for a win
3 points for a tie
1 point for a non-shut out loss
1 point for each even strength goal
1 point for each short-handed goal
2 points for the team with the fewest penalties
2 points for a shutout
 
ACTIVITY POINTS

On-ice
Team relay – Teams will relay from goal line to the ringette line (U8) or the blue line (U10). While carrying the ring, players will skate to their line, turn around the pylon and back to the next player on the team. 1 point for each player successfully completing her turn (doesn’t fall or touch a pylon) and 5 points for team finishing first. Teams are timed.
Passing – Each player will receive a pass.  The passer will stand in the center of a circle.  All players will line up around the circle.  1 point will be given for each pass received.

Off-ice
Target shooting – Nets with targets are set up and each team is timed.  Each player takes 2 shots at a time and can go through the team as many times as time will allow.  1 point for each  low target hit, 2 points for hitting the high target. 
Banner contest – Each team makes a team banner prior to Jamboree Dayand hangs them in the arena.  They are judged by organizers with points given for the best banners. 
Wii dancing – Just Dance will be set-up on a Wii with a projector. Players can dance up to 4 at a time to different songs. For every 10,000 points, the team gets 1 point.
Team cheer – Each team who does a team cheer at the prize presentation receives 5 points.
Team Spirit – The team in each age category that demonstrates the most team spirit throughout the Jamboree, ie. cheering in the stands, etc. will be given 5 bonus points.
