We have a record number of players in ringette this season - 303 players registered as of this weekend - which is a 18% increase over last season. This is truly a fantastic milestone for the growth of our RIngette Association in Atlantic Canada. That growth does come with some growing pains in terms of ice times for practices and games. The Executive are hard at work with the other Charlottetown Area ice users to negotiate more ice time for this season.

Congratulations to the winners of the Registration Social Night Ringette sticks, donated by Rinkside Sports Shop in Pownal:  U12 Alyssa Mol, Cornwall and U16U19 Summer Matheson, Charlottetown for your new stick and put it to good use with the season. Remember, it's worth the drive to Pownal!! Any questions, give the store a call at 651-3333 or email Alan at rinkside@nbnet.nb.ca

Want to be a Team Manager - this is your week to volunteer!
A Team Manager has significant impact on the success of the Ringette season. While the Coach takes responsibility for everything that happens on the ice, the Manager essentially takes responsibility for everything off the ice. Often it is assumed the Manager is just a team administrator, however, the best managers provide leadership and communication to the team and manage all the people involved - coaches, players and parents. The Team Manager and the Coach work together to establish the culture and structure of the team. Connect with your team’s coach this week if interested!

Team Name - The team’s first task will be to select a name - have your players talk amongst themselves about team names this week  - Deadline is Monday, October 29 to Jim Murphy.

Jerseys & Deposits - The association collects a $65 post-dated check to encourage players and parents to maintain our jerseys in good shape. One issue that came up last year was the use of the Iron on Name Bars as they damage our jerseys - your jersey deposit will not be returned if you use an iron on name bar this season. Your team manager will be collecting the $65 deposit (cash or post-dated check) when the team jerseys are distributed if you did not provide this at registration time.

Gym Ringette
Charlottetown Ringette has added Gym Ringette to our program for the upcoming season. Coaches can use this hour for team building and fun, running practices as well as games during this hour (our new venue is the Park Royal Church gym on Monday evenings starting October 29). Each team will receive one free gym hour per season. Additional times can be purchased at a cost of $40 per hour. Watch for more details from your coach.

Games, Games, Games...
The House League season starts on Thursday, November 1 and goes to early March. Watch our website for the schedule to be published by Monday, October 29.  Playoffs in the U12, U14, U16U19 and OPEN Divisions will occur over 3 weeks around March Break with the U8/U10 Jamboree held on Saturday, April 6 and Championship Day held on Sunday, April 7 for the U12, U14, U16U19 and OPEN Divisions.

Montague early bird Tournament in a few weeks...
The tournament is being planned for the weekend of November 16-18 with games (in Montague and Murray River) typically Thursday evening, Friday and Saturday with the playoffs on Sunday. You may want to make arrangements to be off work on Friday to attend your player’s game(s)! More details will follow from your coach in the next 10 days but be prepared to be asked if your team is wanting to register as the deadline is before the end of October. The cost for the tournament is $500 and divided by the number of the players on the team. You can choose to fund-raise as a team for these fees or cover them by each family on your own.

Any questions or concerns, please contact any member of the Executive.
