Want to be a Team Manager!

A Team Manager will have significant impact on the success of the Ringette season. While the Coach takes responsibility for everything that happens on the ice, the Manager essentially takes responsibility for everything off the ice. Often it is assumed the Manager is only a team administrator, however, the best managers provide leadership to the team and manage the people involved.  The Team Manager and the Coach must work together to establish the culture of the team, and establish the structure for the team.

The manager plays a key role in providing the necessary organization and communication which is required for a healthy and successful team environment.  In addition he/she provides technical support for coaching staff, counselling and support of team players, and becomes a catalyst for involvement of all parents.

Characteristics of a good Team Manager
  • A leader
  • Organized
  • Good Communicator
  • Good Listener
  • Committed to the job
  • Able to delegate work and then follow up to ensure completion
  • Able to settle disputes and manage conflict
  • Make sure that all minor officials are in place for each home game
  • Open to new ideas or concepts
  • Web & email capable (no need to be a geek!)
  • Plans any team building functions (ie. Christmas party, year end party) for their team
