REMINDER - Provincial Coaches Needed for the 2012-13 season

RPEI is now accepting applications for Head Coach of the U12 Development, U14, U16, U19 and OPEN provincial teams for the 2012-13 season.

Ringette PEI is currently accepting Provincial Team Coaching Staff applications for 2012-13 season for the following teams:

  • U12 Development
  • U14
  • U16
  • U19
  • OPEN
Applications are to follow the policy, Selection of Provincial Team Coaches.

E. PROVINCIAL TEAMS

Policy E.1: Selection of Provincial Team Coaches

Provincial team coaches shall be chosen by a Selection Committee consisting of a Chair and members from each of the local associations. The decisions of said committee are final.

APPLICATION CHAIR The Coaching Chair, provided that he/she is/will not be applying for a position or an immediate family member of someone applying, will head the selection committee; otherwise, the Executive of the Board will appoint another member of the Board who is/will not be applying for a position or an immediate family member of one who is applying. The chair shall: Chair the selection committee meeting, Place an advertisement stating the need for coaches, the age divisions, the teams and the deadline for applications, Make available application forms, Set a date, time and place for the meeting, and Vote, only in case of a tie.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS The selection committee shall consist of two (2) members, who must be present, from each of the local associations. None of the committee members can be applying for a position or an immediate family member of one who is applying. Each local association shall provide the requested members.

SELECTION OF COACHES Selection of each coach shall be by a simple majority vote. Voting will be done by ballot passed out with each committee member having a vote. Voting shall be by secret ballot. In the case of a tie, the Chair will cast the deciding vote. In the case of 3 coaches or more applying for the same position , if after a vote there is a tie between 2 coaches the members shall vote again on those 2 coaches if they are tied after the second vote than the chair will cast his or her vote.

PROCEDURES: Selection of Provincial Team Coaches ∙ The Chair or alternative shall place an advertisement in the paper that serves the largest number of people in the province, electronically, on Ringette PEI‟s webpage etc regarding the need for coaches ∙ Said advertisements shall state the deadline for receipt of applications ∙ All applications must be received on or before the date stated in the advertisement ∙ Applications received after said date will not be accepted ∙ Should no applications be received for a position, then that position shall be reopened for competition ∙ Said application should include: - Coaching credentials - Coaching experience at the PEI League and provincial levels, for ringette and other sports - The position (head, assistant or manager, etc), division, and team (if applicable, ie Host)

- A team plan stating goals for the team, practice and conditioning schedule, which Regional/National competitions they plan to attend, etc.

- A minimum of two (2) character references

- Said applications will be taken to the Selection Committee meeting by the Executive Director and distributed to the committee members - Criteria for selection include, but are not limited by:

- Introduction to Competition (formerly Level II) Ringette coaching certification is preferred as the minimum. However, partial coaching certification or other levels may be considered.

- Ringette Coaching Certification level(s) required for National and/or Regional Tournaments.

- Number of years coaching Ringette at the provincial and PEI League level

- A detailed team plan 

- Experience the applicant may have acquired from other sports, at the PEI League and elite level

- All applicants will be notified of the results in writing, within seven (7) days of the selection committee meeting

- One of the coaches must be female above the age of 18.

- Selection committee to meet at least one week prior to interviews to define questions and scoring system for coach selection.
