Welcome to U-8 Team Trainor

2017-11-02 - U8 Team Trainor

Hello Parents/Caregivers,

Welcome to Team Trainor! The three U-8 ringette teams have been finalized and I will be coaching your daughter this year.

Our next ice time is Saturday, November 4 @ CARI A @ 9:45.  Please try to have your daughter dressed 10 minutes early so I can pass out jerseys.  After the practice, there will be a short parents meeting in the dressing room.  We will discuss the following items at the meeting, but I wanted to give you some time to think about things,

1.) Additional help - An assistant coach and a one or two managers are needed for the team.  The manager(s) would be responsible for organizing social activities, sending emails and collecting money etc.  Also, there needs to be a female on the bench for games.  All adults on the bench are required to have a recent criminal reference check completed.

2.) Team fees - To cover the cost of tournament fees and social activities, additional fees will be required.  Once a manager is in place, a team budget will follow.

3.) Tournaments - The team will participate in three tournaments and a year-end jamboree.

Lollipop Tournament: There is one day tournament in Montague on Saturday, November 25.  The girls will play two games and there will be some off-ice activities as well.  Registration is due very soon, so if your daughter is unable to attend please let me know.

Charlottetown Tournament:  January 13-15, 2018

Moncton/Dieppe Tournament:  March 10-11, 2018.  A block of hotel rooms have reserved.  It will be the responsibility of each family to book their own rooms.  More to come on this.

Year-end jamboree - one day in March 2018 (date to be confirmed).

4.) Resources - The Charlottetown Ringette Association website http://charlottetownringette.com/ is a great resource and the team schedule will be posted under the U-8 Team Trainor section.  I strongly encourage you to bookmark the site and subscribe to the schedule.

If you are new to ringette, you can learn about the basic concepts here http://www.ringette.ca/our-sport/basics-of-ringette/

The social aspect of ringette is really important, especially with this age group.  We will have a gathering in the near future so the girls can get to know one another and select a team name.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to drop me a line.  See you on Saturday.

Thanks,

Trevor Trainor
