Coaching Workshop- Oct 25

Ringette PEI is hosting a coaching workshop for all Island ringette coaches and managers. We encourage all coaches to take this opportunity to improve and share their coaching skills. There is no charge to attend.
Coaching Workshop Overview....
When: Sunday, October 25, 1:00-7:30
Where: Royalty Centre/Sport PEI, Charlottetown
The mandatory league coaches’ meeting will take place as part of the workshop- at least one coach from each registered team must attend the coaches’ meeting. This year, we will also be having a league managers’ meeting, which is mandatory for team managers.
A light luncheon will be served as part of the workshop.

Making Ethical Decisions led by Lynn Boudreau, Sport PEI
Room 234
This is mandatory for all new coaches with no previous NCCP training.
Session 2
1:00pm-2:00pm
Nutrition led by Bethany Vessey, Registered Dietician, Synergy Fitness & Nutrition
Room 125
Learn about nutrition before, during and after exercise. Also nutrition during tournament weekends when multiple games are played.
Session 3
2:00pm-3:00pm
Communicating with Parents led by Francois Caron
Room 125
Obtain techniques on how to effectively communicate with parents in all different situations and at various levels of competition.
Game Sheet & Shot Clock 101 led by Jim Murphy & David Saunders
Room 236
This session will provide an overview of how to accurately fill out a game sheet, review common issues and provide tips on how to ensure your team’s game sheet is complete.
An overview of how to properly use the ringette shot clock will also be provided.
Session 4

Coaching Goaltenders led by Keely Brown, 5-Count Ringette Goalie Instruction
Room 125 via Skype
This session will be a discussion about warm up drills, keeping goalies challenged, communication with goalies, dealing with goalie confidence, what to do scenarios as well as an opportunity to ask questions.
League- Managers’ Meeting led by Ringette PEI
Room 236
This meeting is mandatory; a team manager from every team must be present. This session will provide an overview of league regulations for all managers with particular focus on administrative and reporting tasks.
Session 5
4:30pm-5:30pm
League- Coaches’ Meeting led by Ringette PEI
Room 125
This meeting is mandatory; at least 1 coach per team must be present. The session will provide an overview of league regulations for all coaches as well as reviewing coaching certification requirements, fair play, and recent rule changes.
Session 6
5:30pm-7:00pm
U8 Drill Sharing led by Paul Power
Room 234
This roundtable workshop will provide an opportunity for U8 coaches to share their best drill tips and practice plans with other coaches from across PEI as well as preparing collectively for the upcoming season.
Drill Sharing- U10 led TBD

This roundtable workshop will provide an opportunity for U10 coaches to share their best drill tips and practice plans with other coaches from across PEI as well as preparing collectively for the upcoming season.
Drill Sharing- U12 led by Boyd Hawkins

This roundtable workshop will provide an opportunity for U12 coaches to share their best drill tips and practice plans with other coaches from across PEI as well as preparing collectively for the upcoming season.
